I'll be indisposed

I'm having another colonoscopy on Thursday, my first in more than a year and a half. It's in preparation for surgery next week to reconnect my intestines so I can get rid of the bag of poop I've had to keep glued to my belly since the summer of 2007. So I won't be posting here tomorrow, I don't think.

And you know, in the scheme of what I've been through in the past couple of years, a colonoscopy is nothing. If you're over 50 or (like me, it turned out) are otherwise at risk for colorectal cancer, go get one. They give you good drugs, so you won't mind.

In the meantime, check out 50 images in honour of NASA's 50th birthday, via Bill.

I concur with Derek. The drugs are great. the prep sucks though

WOO! Good luck on the reconnect...I'm about a month out from mine and am starting to catch glimpses of my "new normal." I'm happy to report it's not all bad.

Good luck and don't enjoy those drugs too much...or, at least, save some for us!

Hope everything went well. x

And, if you do have one, insist on drugs. A nasty GI once insisted on having me do a scope without them to speed things up. Awful. All the times with drugs have been fine!

You must have had better drugs than I did, when I had a colonoscopy in Winnipeg a few years ago. I minded very much.

I've been uncomfortable afterwards (mostly in my left belly, not elsewhere you might expect), and slept all day yesterday after I got home, but I don't remember anything at all about the procedure itself. Which is how I'd like it to be.

Good news, I hope!
