Good names for instrumental rock tunes

Permalinks to this entry: individual page or in monthly context. For more material from my journal, visit my home page or the archive.

Instrumental rock tunes have one big advantage over those with vocals: the composers can call them whatever they want. There are no lyrics to match up to. They also don't have to be (although they can be) as self-consciously clever as jazz instrumental titles usually are.

So here are some of my names for (so far) non-existent instrumentals:

  • How Tall Jennifer Is
  • Meltdown Man
  • Deep Cycle Discharge
  • I'm So Scared I Can't Stop Talking
  • Fresh Snow in the Valley
  • Gronk Patrol
  • Stop Yield Go Merge
  • And the Other Thing

I wonder how often someone's built an album by coming up with the track titles first?
