Sucked into the hype
A quarter century ago, I was one of those Star Wars obsessives. Of course I was. I was eight, and it was the first movie I ever saw. (The second one was Hooper.)
Now, despite myself, I'm sort of getting sucked into the hype machine for Attack of the Clones. My wife and I will probably see it this weekend. In honour of that, some obscure Star Wars links:
- Viewers report cameos and hidden items in the new movie
- Why the Galactic Empire is better than the Old Republic or whatever the Rebel Alliance might set up (not that they seem to have any plans)
- Ben Burtt, legendary sound effects designer (with the perfect sound effects designer name) for the Star Wars films, among many others
- Way too much detail about the original movie (for example "Listen to the sound of the sandpeople dropping Luke on the ground. I swear it's the same sound that Charlie Brown makes when he misses the football being held by Lucy.")
- The likely consequences of blowing up the Death Star 2 so close to an inhabited moon
- The Wilhelm scream (here's the sound itself), and, for good measure, the Universal telephone and castle thunder
