My earlier impression that weblogger Dean Allen (whom I mentioned earlier this month) does not have young children has been reinforced. In addition to his treatise on making oatmeal, he has now written one about glace de viande (loose translation: "meat jelly") -- something else that requires patience, time, and freedom from distractions in the kitchen. I must take umbrage at his insistence that "bouillon cubes are for the idle." They are for those of us who are otherwise occupied (never mind Kraft Dinner). But hey, he lives in France, and his stuff still makes fun reading.
